SKY & SANNA
OUR STORY
Right from the first meeting we both felt a sacredness and depth that was waiting to be explored further.
We met on the last day of a Yoga Festival on Öland, Sweden, 2007. Warmly touched by our Spiritual conversation we both felt that we’d like to meet again. Our next meeting was sweetly synchronized, on the first day of the Öland Yoga festival we met in exactly the same place as before and spent the whole festival together. Sky’s teacher Swamiji Vagishananda was present and Sanna and him made a great connection. This was an auspicious start for our relationship and together we explored our Spirtiuality which is truly our greatest strength.
Having a Sprritual bond and speaking the same heart language keeps us aligned and safe. We feel incredibly blessed by our connection and it’s from this we feel inspired to share and teach all aspects of Yoga life.
Sky Akasha Tobias
In search for balance, healing and answers to life’s purpose and meaning, Sky came to his first yoga class in 1990, and immediately felt at home and inspired to learn more.
His journey has led him to study several forms of yoga, including Hatha, Iyengar, Ashtanga, Kundalini and the Chinese forms, Tai Chi and Qi Gong.
Over the years Sky has been educated in Ayurveda, studying 1 year with the master Dr. Vasant Lad, enriching his understanding of health and clear choices that support a balanced way of living. In 2001 he met his Guru, Swami Vagishananda, definitely the most important and influential meeting of his life. Finally there were clear answers to the purpose of life and what all the efforts and practices were for! Blessed to be in close connection with his Guru, he continues to receive deep studies in Vedanta, sanskrit, mantras, Puja and all the yoga philosophy and values of the yogic tradition. This has given him a good grounding in the purpose and practices of Yoga as a way of achieving balance, harmony and total fulfillment in this life.
Since the year 2000 Sky has been teaching yoga full time and in 2005 established the Sama Yoga school, which leads Yoga Teacher Trainings and retreats in Sweden, Bali, Scotland and Greece.
Sky's classes are always spontaneous and deeply honoring of his students. As he says, “I’m like the milkman, I just deliver the milk, fulfilling the sacred and even unspoken orders of the students.” Taught with relaxed passion, humor and clear understanding of the poses and their benefits, the Samayoga form is intuitive and taught from the heart. It’s a very interesting, creative and fun form to practice. It looks like a Hatha Yoga flow, but spiced with Qi Gong and special mantras to open the heart.
Sky is certified by the Yoga Alliance. You can view his profile here.
Sanna Akasha Tobias
Sannas passion has always been spiritual & personal growth, her interest spans over all aspects that Yoga includes. She searched answers for many years and in many traditions and since she was 16 has been committed to a daily Yoga & Meditation practice. But it wasn’t until she found traditional Advaita Vedanta that the search was satisfied. Vedanta is a timeless means of knowledge that, when the teaching words are handled appropriately, acts as a mirror so you can know clearly the fact that you are the source of all you seek. It gives knowledge about how to find harmony & happiness in all aspects of life, what is the nature of myself, the world and God? It gives Moksha, freedom, through self knowledge. To be able to understand and benefit from this fact we need to grow in so many ways, including emotionally. Ultimately this is the purpose of all Yoga and the passion of Sannas life and calling as a teacher. Sannas name is very appropriate, it means “truth”, which has been her motivation and goal for as long as she can remember. She radiates an honesty and openness that invites immediate comfort and trust in all her students and clients. From her diverse background, which has included engineering, animals, Jungian psychology, physically challenged children, sports competition and extensive travels among other things, she has gained a deep humility and respect for each individual's journey and the ability to support and uplift whoever she meets. Since 2009 she studies vedanta, sanskrit, mantra, chanting & ritual daily with her teachers in the Swami Dayananda Saraswati lineage and has been given their blessings to teach to carry the tradition further. She is one of the main teachers in the "Sama Yoga Teacher training"and in the "Complete Holistic Yoga study program" and also teaches in retreats around Europe. She offers online classes in Vedanta and Sanskrit as well as individual Life coaching sessions and spiritual guidance both live and on Skype. A little more about our teachers
– Shri Swami Vagishanandaji is a sanyasi, vedanta scholar and chanting master for the past 40 years (he participated in five 3,5yr residential courses with Swami Dayanandaji!). He lives like a monk, devoted to hindu dharma (universal values) and traditions.
– Shri Radhaji, Dr Carol Whitfield, is a vedanta teacher and sanskrit scholar, teacher at the CIIS University in San Fransisco as well as an accomplished therapist and PhD in psychology. She studied with Swami Dayanandaji since the 1970s and was for many years the manager of one of his ashrams. Both of them have the rare combination of understanding both the eastern teachings as well as psychology and the needs of a modern mind and the western mind.
– Shri Pujya Swāmi Dayānanda Saraswati – words fall short to describe our revered Guru Pujya Swamiji. He completely revived the tradition of Vedanta and Hindu Dharma and has impacted millions of peoples lives world wide.
